Bonsai has been making art for as long as he can remember. Born and raised mostly in southern Victoria, he moved to Melbourne with some friends in 2001 to become more active in the graffiti culture that was growing rapidly there. His work kept developing beyond the traditional letter styles into more organic forms that mirrored patterns found in nature, native textiles and ceramics. Soon the form of graffiti itself gave way to a more abstract and composed mural painting and smaller scale solo work for both product and exhibition. The whole time Bonsai's work has always continued to develop its own language that is an obvious expression of his love of nature, abstract geometry and the world's native cultures. He is currently working out of a mud brick studio in country Victoria where he also now resides. Inquiries for commission paintings, illustration, murals and graphics are most welcome.
